Designing with Native Plants

February 18, 2025 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Join Hampden Hampshire and Franklin Conservation Districts’  Native Plants Winter Workshop Series to learn about Designing with Native Plants with Heidi Dollard.

Do you want to use native plants in your yard, but don’t know how to find, choose, and place them in your landscape? This talk will cover how to use them in your garden to best effect for both humans and biodiversity, with examples from historic styles and current garden trends. We’ll also discuss how to purchase and propagate native plants, and suggest native substitutions for common non-native plants, and highlight the most garden-worthy native flowers, trees, and shrubs.

Go here to register for this session and to read about the other workshops in this series.

Presenter Bio:   Heidi is Co-Chair of the Steering Committee of the Massachusetts Pollinator Network. She works to educate gardeners and homeowners on how they can support pollinators and other beneficial wildlife while creating a beautiful and low maintenance landscape.  Heidi has a Master’s of Science in Biology and is a Master Gardener.  She has been an enthusiastic native plant gardener for many years. Heidi was interviewed twice by local news outlets and her garden was featured on the Fine Gardening Blog.
