Leeanne offers strategies for the whole family to stay calm, focused, and together
during challenging times.
2:00 pm: FIRST AID AND NARCAN, FRCOG Nurses
Preparedness steps for our medical needs, simple first aid training, and an overview
of Narcan now that this life saving tool is available over the counter.
2:45 pm: STRETCH BREAK! With Linda Allis and the COA
Ok everyone! Linda leads exercises to make sure we’re able to get off the floor
when we need to. Just a few simple adjustments can make all the difference.
3:00 pm: MEMA EMERGENCY PREP WORKSHOP, Nate Moreau, MEMA
Our new MEMA rep will walk us through getting our households ready to go. From
food and water necessities to emergency tools, to communications, Nate will give us
actionable items we can use to get ready, and to stay ready. This is the workshop that
provides the building blocks for preparedness. That, and we have each other!
4:00 pm: READY OR NOT LIVE GAME SHOW: Karin Parks, your iconic host!
Put your thinking caps on… Questions worked up from all of our emergency services divisions ask contestants Is it an emergency, or is it something else? Are we ready, or are we not? Each answer reveals emergency prep information and helpful nuggets while also leading our winner to a prize!
5:00 pm: THE NEW LEYDEN COMPREHENSIVE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PLAN: David Pomerantz, EMD + Team
Come familiarize yourself with the plan for our town in an emergency. This is a truly community based approach to response that involves everyone, including our new Emergency Neighborhood model and Snowmobile Corps.

Come and enjoy free ice cream on a bonafide emergency vehicle from 12-2 pm at Avery Field in Leyden. Alyce and Addie will be servin’ it up
1:00 pm: CHAINSAW SKILLS, Mike Smith, Chainsaw Strategies
Mike will help keep everyone from costly mistakes, answer your questions about safety and fundamentals, and share his knowledge from years in emergency response.
This is a 90 minute workshop!
3:00 pm: LEYDEN FIRE DEPT DEMO, LFD + Friends
Come tour the vehicles, get yourself up to snuff on household fire safety, using fire
extinguishers, and learning about all the cool stuff your local firefighters do in addition to
fighting fires.
3:30-4:00 pm: CHILI COOKOFF CONTESTANTS DROP OFF THEIR MASTERPIECES @ PAVILLION
4:00-4:30 pm: CHILI TASTING FOR ALL! CHOOSE YOUR FAVES…
4:30 pm: LET THE JUDGING BEGIN!
Your host, cookbook writer TINKY WEISBLAT joins forces with our esteemed sister-judges CAROLANN ZACCARA of The Wagon Wheel and MAGGIE ZACCARA of Hope & Olive to crown our first ever Chili Champions! There will be prizes for both the best vegetarian recipe and for the meaty… Much rejoicing and prizes to follow.
