Second Annual Urban Agriculture Week (August 10-16)

The Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) will host the second annual Urban Agriculture Week August 10-16. Several urban agriculture programs across the state will host events to celebrate, educate, and advocate for urban agriculture.

A sampling of events is listed below:

  • The Food Project/UMASS Extension/The Trustees/Boston Food Forest Coalition/Wellesley College – Urban Soils and Lead: Exploring Best Practices

  • Regional Environmental Council (REC) – Tour of the YouthGROW Farm space and meet the teen farmers on The YouthGROW Farm

  • We Grow Microgreens – “Celebrating Urban Ag Week at Our Farmstand”

  • Nuestras Raices – “Nuestros Arboles Tree Planting Celebration Day

  • Green City Growers – Seed to City: A Morning with the Growers

  • Urban Farming Institute – “Youth Day at The UFI Farm”

  • Massachusetts Food System Collaborative – Urban Farmland Virtual Briefing

  • Eastie Farm Greenhouse, Eastie Farms Culinary Mushroom Farm (soft opening)

  • Everett Community Growers – Farm tour & coffee hour, film screening & growers panel, and 10th year celebration of Tremont St Community Garden

  • UMASS Lowell, Office of Sustainability/Rist Institute – “Urban Heat, Forest Feast: A tour of UMass Lowell’s’ Rooftop Garden and Food Forest”

  • Mill City Grows – “Pawtucket Farm Community Garden Workday”
