SUMMARY:Yale Forest Forum Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:The Yale Forest Forum is back for another season of weekly webinars. This fall’s series is focused on mature and old-growth forests. There is broad agreement that protecting and managing forests is critical for meeting global climate mitigation and sustainable development goals. However\, there is less agreement on how to determine what is ‘best’ management for meeting these goals. Within the United States\, current policy and academic debates have centered on how to define and manage “mature” and “old-growth” forestlands. \nIn collaboration with the Society of American Foresters (SAF)\, this webinar series invites federal agency staff\, private foresters\, forestry researchers\, and forest advocacy organizations to share how they are responding to and shaping the discussion on mature and old-growth forests. The series will begin with introductory webinars from Agency leadership and staff to explain the policy context of the Initiative. Attendees will also learn from a series of experts representing Tribal Nations\, university researchers\, and non-profits exploring core challenges to this effort. \nThe webinar series runs every Thursday from 12 pm – 1 pm from August 29 through December 5\, with no webinars on September 19\, October 17\, and November 28. \nClick here to register for the webinars.
