SUMMARY:Gardening for Biodiversity with Native Plants
DESCRIPTION: with Heidi Dollard \nThe “little things that run the world” are in big trouble: Insect populations are plummeting\, and many species are headed for extinction. This spells disaster for our food supply\, our ecology\, and indeed\, life on earth. The good news is that we can turn this around\, starting in our own yards. By planting native plants\, and other simple steps\, we can restore vital insect populations. Come learn what you can do\, and be inspired! \nThis workshop is part of Hampden-Hampshire Conservation District’s Native Plants Winter Workshop Series. You can see the complete list of workshops\, their descriptions\, and register here. \nHHCD is partnering with landowners in the region to convert lawns and other managed landscapes into native plant gardens and meadows. We are hosting a series of workshops on the topic\, and landowners can request a professional consultation and receive a starter set of native plants or seed to turn your lawn into a more resilient\, carbon-sequestering\, pollinator supporting\, beautiful space! \n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:Fall Meadow Stroll & Seed Collecting
DESCRIPTION:Join Tom Sullivan at Cathy and Michael Katz’s Farm in the historic landscape of The Great Meadow of Hadley. Tom will draw our attention to the bees visiting the farm’s flowers\, ID them to their bee family\, and talk about the bees’ nesting styles. We will be able to collect a few seeds from plants no longer in bloom. Bring your own containers — plastic bags\, lidded containers and small paper bags are all useful. You may want to bring snips or scissors to cut seeded stems. \nIn the event of rain\, we will head inside a tent where Tom will give a slideshow of farm flowers grown from collected seeds\, bee behaviors\, flight ranges\, and possible nesting locations. Handouts will be provided. \nKindly scan the QR code or follow this link to register and for location information. \n \n  \n\n\n	Related
